The Santa Maria Golf Course here in Baton Rouge is even part of the Audubon Golf Trail, a unique trail of courses designed by golf legends to celebrate Louisiana’s landscapes and love of the sport. GO FOR A STROLL
The picturesque LSU Lakes provide the perfect setting for a walk, run or bike ride, weaving through the neighborhoods and part of LSU’s campus. If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous, you can rent gear for water activities, such as canoeing and paddleboarding.
With spring in full bloom, an outdoor run or walk has never been so beautiful! The Mississippi River Levee is a four-mile-long path running from downtown Baton Rouge to LSU’s agricultural fields (cows and horses!), offering views of the mighty Mississippi River and the Baton Rouge cityscape.
THE WILD SIDE
Greenwood Community Park is filled with activities for you and your family and friends! Bring your furry friend out for some fetch, a walk or a chance to make new friends at the Raising Cane’s Dog Park. Greenwood Community Park also offers fishing piers and seated area, perfect for a little rest and relaxation. Other amenities like tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds and splashpads make this the perfect spring stop for just about anybody!
Bluebonnet Swamp and Nature Center
One of the most intriguing spots in Baton Rouge is in the heart of the city, right off Bluebonnet Boulevard! At the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, you can see rooms full of reptiles, an array of artifacts and countless creatures. There is nothing more relaxing than walking on the trails of the natural swamp of Baton Rouge on a spring afternoon – don’t forget to look for the owls!
There’s nothing better than a day well-spent at the Baton Rouge Zoo! Home to animals from around the world, including two of 20 pygmy hippos located in the United States, the zoo offers fun for the entire family, while taking strides in the conversation and protection of animals. COOL OFF
Cooling off in the Capital City is easy when there are plenty of water parks to visit including Liberty Lagoon, BREC’s premiere water park, and Blue Bayou & Dixie Landin', a giant water and theme park known for its summer concerts and waves of fun!
