Announces Talent Lineup and Sponsors
Pre-party at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room on October 5
Main festival at Riverfront Plaza in Baton Rouge, October 7 and 8

 

Baton Rouge, LA (Sept. 18, 2023)…The 7th Annual A Taste of the Deep South (formerly Henry Turner Jr. Day) is pleased to announce the talent lineup and sponsors for the festival October 5, 7 and 8. A Pre-Party opens the event at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room on Thursday, October 5. Performers include Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars, along with guest artists that include Lisa Harris, Crazy D and Princess Teha. The event is scheduled from 7:00pm to midnight. The venue is located at 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Admission is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door and includes a down home style Southern buffet. No-host bar.

A Taste of the Deep South Festival takes place at Riverfront Plaza on October 7 and 8 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. The event features various genres of music. Saturday focuses on reggae and world music. Reggae, EMD, dancers and Contemporary Christian scheduled to appear on Saturday include Xavie Shorts, the Phoenix Rouge Belly Dancing Troupe, Carriesa, Ben E. Hunter, Princess Teha, Ambush Reggae, along with Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor featuring Ras Wayne Vicks and Kevin White. Sunday’s lineup is Mike Da’Kidd, Deewoocy, comedian Eddie Cool, ‘Nspire and the Inspiration Band, Katrina, Ervin “Maestro” Foster, Neebee Soul, Owen Scott, Kevin White, Krazy D, Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor and SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie. The festival also has a Vendor’s Village with arts and crafts, clothing and jewelry and a Food Court with southern festival food favorites. Please check the website for exact times.

The event is family friendly and free to the public. Special VIP tickets are available on the website. VIP Experience cost is $25.00 and includes two meal and two soft drink tickets. Turner VIP tickets are $100.00 for two people come with two T-shirts, four meal, four soft drink and four alcohol beverage tickets, covered seating in the VIP tent and a “Now” CD by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor. Food is from the festival Taste of the Deep South kitchen. The venue is located at 300 River Road, South, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Lawn seating so bring your chairs!
